Hello world! I’ve been meaning to start a knit/crochet blog for a while now, so I decided to get a jump start on New Year’s resolutions and go for it. I just finished up this warm, fuzzy poncho over Thanksgiving.
I bought the yarn and started the project when I was in Copenhagen for a conference over the summer. The city is full of yarn stores – I shopped at a quite a few including Uldstedet, Sommerfuglen, and Rasmilla The yarn I used for this poncho is Uldstedet’s from brand Gepard – I used the baby alpaca and merino Puno.
I’d been wanting to knit a big comfy poncho, and I decided to do a Fair Isle pattern in honor of the Scandinavian yarn expedition I enjoyed on my day off in Copenhagen. I used this pattern for the shape of the poncho, and I designed this Fair Isle pattern to use in the knit stitch portions.
I was honestly hoping for a slightly longer and more blanket-like poncho, but the yarn worked up faster than I had imagined. I’m growing more and more fond of the shorter poncho I ended up with. It certainly makes more sense for California “winters”, anyway. I’ll just have to find another excuse to make my dream blanket poncho. Maybe next year…
(My parents got a new dog, and he wanted to be included in the photoshoot. Say hello to Horst!)
IT looks lovely.
